Coming Saturday, August 6th, racers will fill the streets of Anaconda for the 2nd Annual Smelter City Scamper Fun Run & Marathon. It's a chance for family and friends to get together whether for fun or to test their true running/walking skills, and all for a great cause.  The 2nd Annual Scamper is a fundraiser for the Smelter City Recreation Complex set for construction in the very near future on the east entrance of Anaconda.

Of course, another amazing factor about the Scamper is that it takes place during Smelterman's Day festivities set throughout town. According to the Montana Historical Society, Smelterman's Day was first held in August of 1918. Festivities on this historic weekend, continue to honor the hard working smeltermen and families who dedicated their lives to the community during the era of the smelting industry. It's definitely a nostalgic time set aside to pay tribute to the men and women who helped build Anaconda.

SCRC Committee Coordinator, Linda Moodry said that the Scamper will include a 5k Run/Walk, 10k Run/Walk, Family Fun Run and Half Marathon. Information on how to sign up for the Scamper, packet pick-up, and race day details are available by visiting the Smelter City Recreation Complex facebook page. There's still time, so check it out today!
