Seven families are now living in homes they helped build—together—in Butte. The new neighborhood on Iron Street is the result of nearly two years of shared effort through Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Montana and the USDA Rural Development Mutual Self-Help Program.

The employees at NorthWestern Energy have pooled their money together and made a sizable donation of dog and cat food to the Chelsea Bailey Animal Shelter here in Butte. It's the employees, mind you, out of their own pockets, which makes the donation even more special. This is not the first time they have done this, and organizers promise that this will not be the last either.
Monday night, the University of Houston Cougars, under the tutelage of Coach Kelvin Sampson, will meet the University of Florida Gators for the NCAA Men's Basketball National Championship. As you have probably heard several times by now, Coach Sampson is also the former head coach of the Montana Tech Orediggers, a school he led to then-unseen success and a school where he left a lasting legacy. Coach Kelvin is a member of the Digger Athletics Hall of Fame. Sampson is a mentor to current Oredigger Head Coach Adam Hiatt. Hiatt's present-day Orediggers proudly play on Kelvin Sampson Court. But even as Sampson has moved on, you can tell there is a lot of Butte left in him.
With the possibility of high winds and downed power lines, Montana's NorthWestern Energy is discussing planned power outages during the hottest temps of the year.
Dream Big has always been Colt Anderson's mantra. So has giving back to the community which he continues to inspire as for another summer, Colt will be bringing the "Dream Big Montana Experience" to the Mining City. The skills camp is open to youngsters entering kindergarten through 8th Grade, is absolutely free and immensely popular.

But McDonald and Thorsrud do not work at the shelter. They work at the Uptown Northwestern Energy office and all of this food, and then some, was the result of some clever fundraising between departments and some very generous individual donors, all because they found out that the shelter needed help.
