Saturday is going to be a very charitable day, even by Butte's generous standards.  As we get ready for the big Distribution Day of the annual Butte Cares/Harrington Pepsi Clothing Drive, we certainly don't want to forget about another huge, annual giving event that will be going on at the same time.  I am talking about, of course, the annual Thompson Family Food Drive.

For decades now, the Thompson Family Food Drive has put thousands of pounds of food and supplies on the shelves of the Butte Emergency Food Bank and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars.  It has grown from a small gesture of giving thanks to the neighborhood and families surrounding the old Thompson Distributing warehouse from the families and friends of the cherished business to the event we see today that requires hundreds of volunteers and the generosity of an entire city.  There are many ways to help out.

The easiest and most effective way to help is to leave nonperishable food or toiletries outside of your door or mailbox Saturday morning.  Cash or checks made out to the Butte Emergency Food Bank will also be accepted as volunteers will have special envelopes for placement.  The volunteers, in clearly marked vests, will be going neighborhood to neighborhood collecting donated items.  Please keep all pets inside as the volunteers will be canvassing the town throughout the day.

Would you like to be a part of the amazing volunteer crew?  Just show up at the Racetrack VFD Hall on Grand Avenue at 9:30am Saturday and they will happily put you to work.

These Montana Cities Get The Most Sun Each Year

CurrentResults' show that the following 6 Montana cities enjoy the most sunny days in the Treasure State. They label sunny days as days when clouds cover up to 30% of the sky and partly sunny days as days when the clouds are covering between 31% and 70% of the sky. They then add those two days up to give us our total days of sun in Montana
