Things are getting colder in Southwest Montana, which is no surprise to anyone.  As such, this is the time of year when a lot of us change up our wardrobes, trading shorts and sandals for sweaters and snow boots.

As you put your summer clothes away, look at the other clothes you have in the back of your closet or packed away in storage bins.  How many pair of jeans do you have that you haven’t worn in years?  How many shirts?  Do you have sweatshirts and coats that you’re no longer wearing?  Let’s be honest.  If you don’t plan on wearing them this winter, they’re probably not ever going to be worn again.  Unless you want to help the less fortunate.

Our partners at Harrington Bottling Company of Butte and Butte Cares are just getting things started for the 2026 Helping Hands Clothing Drive and are asking you to go through your clothes and gather items that could be used by our area’s less fortunate.  Items that are needed are clean, gently worn jeans, coats, hats, boots, shoes, blankets and gloves.  Things that other, less fortunate individuals and families can put to good use.
Soon we will be announcing this year’s drop-off locations and the date of the distribution.  Thank you for your help as we work to make this year’s drive our most successful.  If you would like to get involved in this year's clothing drive on a more personal level, contact Butte Cares for information on how you can volunteer.
