United Way to clean and spruce up Kiwanis Sunshine Camp. Can you help?
Do you have a couple of hours that you could give to the children of Southwest Montana? The United Way of Butte and Anaconda sure hopes so. In fact, they're counting on it. You are invited to join members of the United Way along with volunteers from all across Southwest Montana for the "Day of Caring", an annual day where those involved pull up their sleeves, put on some gloves and go to work. Real work. Weed-pulling, painting and repair kind of work. This year, the focus is on the Kiwanis Sunshine Camp, just south of Butte.
Since the mid 1940s, the Kiwanis Sunshine camp has been a summer haven for the youth of the Mining City and surrounding communities providing a much needed and deserve respite to area kids, many of whom could otherwise not afford to go to summer camp. Today the area is home to the Butte Family YMCA's extensive summer camp that features everything from basketball, tennis and volleyball to giant soccer and even a ninja warrior course and will last throughout most of the summer.
Friday, June 27th is the United Way of Butte and Anaconda's "Day of Caring" and they plan to go to work on the Kiwanis Sunshine Camp, everything from repair and retouching of equipment to weed spraying. Are you a master craftsman? Great. They can certainly use your expertise. What if you're a novice? Not a problem. The right chore will be found for you and remember, as the old saying goes, many hands make light work.
