Two programs on the rise, both with state tournament aspirations in their respective classifications will meet on the hardwood tonight for crosstown bragging rights.  The Butte High Bulldogs and Butte Central Maroons girls basketball teams are set to clash at 6pm at the Butte Civic Center in the first game of a City Championship doubleheader with the boys to follow at 7:30pm.

After a season opening win on the road over Bozeman, the Bulldogs have lost their last 2 to Dillon and Billings West, respectively and come into the contest at 1-2.  Butte Central is 1-3, after dropping their first two in the Western A Tipoff Tourney in Whitefish to Browning and Columbia Falls two weekends ago, split last weekend in the East/West Tipoff, beating Sidney 44-41 on Friday before being edged by Dawson County on Saturday.

Both teams are small and quick but Butte Central has a small size advantage with their developing frontcourt of 6'1 junior Rylee Forbes. 5'10 sophomore Zayonna Otherbull and 5'9 senior Airika Stajcar.  They will rotate a speedy contingent of guards including 5'7 junior Marley Mansanti, 5'8 sophomore Braelyn Schelin and 5'8 junior Jaedyn Maldonado.  Butte High will counter with the lightning-quick 5'7 junior Cadence Graham at point guard spelled by 5'6 senior Franki Salusso, 5'7 junior Autumn Clary and 5'7 junior Allie Becker.  Up front is 5'10 senior Emma Johnson and off the bench are 5'5 freshman Elli Graham and 5'8 freshman Saege Grey, both of whom are very capable of creating offense and are also very quick on defense.
