Eagle-eyed Facebooker notices strange coincidence in Butte Vandalism Spree
There is nothing worse than finding your car, your home or your business have been the target of spineless vandals. Your blood boils and what makes it so frustrating most of the time is that you have no idea who was behind it. Because, as I previously stated, vandals are spineless cowards.
As you may have heard, dozens of Butte vehicles, storefronts and residences were the target of vandals over Easter Weekend as windows in cars, homes and businesses all over town were destroyed by small projectiles. The spree appeared to be random but very destructive.
The Butte 411 Facebook group is usually a good source of information about what's happening in Butte and while not exactly 100 percent reliable, it is a good gauge of what's happening in town. It was in this group that one top contributor, Christopher Hern, gave notice to the community that something was going on.
Well, Christopher, you can rest easy. According to our friend Josh Margolis at NBC Montana, the Butte Police were all over the case and and behind home surveillance and some great detective work, tracked a vehicle in question to Wal Mart where a slingshot was purchased. Police quickly connected the dots and arrested four suspects who made their appearance before Judge Jimm Kilmer on Monday morning. The suspects are an unnamed 17-year-old and Laine Joseph Lowder, 18, McKinsey Jo Allen, 20, and 27-year-old Christopher Allen Hern. Wait a second. Does that last name look familiar? Katie Rooney sure thinks it does.
Rooney, an active Butte 411 member and one who generally does not stand for BS and she was the first to point out that Hern was one of the ones arrested and on the current jail roster.
Hern is being held on a felony criminal mischief charge.
