Well, it's tournament time in the Mining City and quite frankly this is one of my favorite times of year.  As one of the announcers at the Butte Civic Center, along with my pal Chris Fisk, we often get asked about recommendations for a great place for a bite to eat between tournament sessions.  Well, here are a couple of unique Butte places you're sure to enjoy.

Pork Chop John's

A unique Butte staple, you can never go wrong with John's Original Pork Chop Sandwich.  Try it loaded-deluxe.  Trust me.  But there is more than one pork chop sandwich in town...

The Freeway Tavern

The Freeway Tavern is home of the famous Wop Chop which is a bit larger than John's and comes with french fries or jo jo potatoes.  "Fries or joes" is what they'll ask.  Go with the joes.

La Sirena

La Sirena may be a bit off the beaten path on Excelsior Avenue and it does not have a seating area.  DO NOT let this stop you from trying this incredible Mexican restaurant.  The wait time is short, and the food is simply some of the best in Butte.  The green chile chimichanga? Incredible.

Staggering Ox

You've never seen a sandwich like the Staggering Ox before and you've probably never tasted one either.  Imagine baking a loaf of bread inside a coffee can, scooping out the middle (or "guts" as they call it, also delicious) and stuffing it with fresh and delicious meats, toppings and sauces.  And if you like your sandwiches heavy on the meats and cheeses, try the "406".

Mr. Dogs

Mr. Dogs is awesome.  100% Montana beef hot dogs on freshly baked buns served up in just about every way you can imagine.  There's the Chicago Dog.  The Italian Dog.  The Deputy Dog.  And you can also enjoy delicious, homemade pasta dishes in their quaint, Italian-style atmosphere.
