Have you heard about this great new place to eat in the Cleveland Market on Galena?
The next time you find yourself in Uptown Butte, you really should check out The Local in the Cleveland Market for a quick bite to eat or an espresso. For that matter you should really stop by the Cleveland Market itself, just east of Main Street on Galena. Behind the direction of Carly Leskovar, this incredible market that has sprung up in what was previously a relatively unused building that was being used as a warehouse for Leskovar Motors, as we found out last week when we stopped by Black Dog Creamery which also just opened in the new market.
It's quite an impressive sight when you first walk through the doors. It reminds me of a bigger city marketplace like you'd find on a New York City or Chicago block, but the ambiance of the building has Butte written all over.
"We always wanted to get into the Uptown," The Local proprietor Katie Flint told us, "so when I met Carly (Leskovar) two and a half years ago it started out as a small coffee shop idea and evolved into what it is today." What it is today is quite impressive. And delicious.
Flint described The Local as a market-style deli with a lot of grab and go items, like their salad bar and fresh soups. Everything is scratch-made," she told us. "We are really trying to utilize fresh ingredients, local ingredients as much as possible. Lots of really great coffee, local coffee, homemade drinks, smoothies, protein drinks, really everything that would make it easy for people to come and eat and shop. We have a beer and wine license so we want to make it a nice stop before you head home, to be able to grab dinner like a local take-and-bake and salad bar, have a glass of wine with your friends and head home."
The Local is open from 7am to 3pm Monday thru Friday and from 8am to 4:30pm on Saturdays.
