Nominate A Local Champion For The Moving Mountains Awards
Community members still have a few days left to recognize the people and organizations making a difference across Butte, as nominations for the 2026 Moving Mountains Awards close this Friday, May 15.
The annual awards program shines a spotlight on local individuals, businesses, programs and organizations committed to prevention, wellness and creating healthier futures for youth and families throughout the community. Organizers say the awards are designed to celebrate those who quietly and consistently work behind the scenes to strengthen Butte through service, leadership and advocacy.
Over the years, the Moving Mountains Awards have honored a wide range of local champions, from grassroots volunteers and educators to nonprofit leaders, coalition members and community-based programs. While their efforts may look different, they all share a common goal — helping build a safer, healthier and more connected community.
Recipients are often recognized for going above and beyond in their work, whether by mentoring youth, supporting prevention initiatives, creating educational opportunities or encouraging collaboration among neighbors and organizations. Their efforts help foster a culture of care and accountability that continues to shape the future of Butte.
Organizers are encouraging residents to think about the people in their own lives who are making a positive impact and submit nominations before the Friday deadline. Categories for consideration include Local Government/Law Enforcement, Education, Youth, Business/Organization, Community Member and Butte Cares Coalition Member.
The 2026 Moving Mountains Awards ceremony is scheduled for June 9 and will once again bring the community together to celebrate the people helping move Butte forward.
Those interested in submitting a nomination are encouraged to act quickly, as the nomination window officially closes at the end of the day Friday, May 15.
