A Butte family is asking for your support for young John Hiltunen, a 13-year-old local boy who has spent the past four years battling a serious kidney condition.  As we have seen so many times Butte rally behind one of our own in need, please make plans to attend John's medical benefit that is scheduled for Friday, October 23rd at the Butte Depot at 818 S. Arizona starting at 5pm.

John has been courageously living with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), a disease that attacks the kidneys’ filtering units and can gradually reduce kidney function. His condition has meant numerous hospital stays and a daily regimen of dialysis treatments  Now, John and his family are facing another major hurdle as they await a life-saving kidney transplant.  Along with the emotional challenges of his illness, the ongoing treatment has placed a substantial financial burden on the family.

The benefit will offer many opportunities for the community to show support as a live and silent auction are planned, a 50/50 raffle, games for kids and more.  For John's family, however, the event is more than about money.  Their hope is that the community's support will not only relieve a financial burden but to remind young John that he has many, many people in his corner as he continues his fight.

If you cannot attend, or would like to make an immediate donation, an account has been established at Valley Bank of Butte.  If you would like to donate items for the auction or would like to help out in other ways, please contact Nicole Prather at (406) 498-7201 or Roxanne Conley at (509) 535-3323.
