Class C basketball consists of the smallest high schools and co ops in Montana.  But although the schools themselves are small in size, there are more Class C programs in Montana than any other.  There are 82 teams representing 100 schools broken up into 11 districts.  The districts vary in size but are represented by schools within the same geographic area.  The districts are in either the Eastern, Northern, Western or Southern Division and each division will send 2 representatives to the State Tournament.  So, there's quite the bottleneck around this time each year.

District 12 is one of the largest in Class C with 10 members, who are Twin Bridges, Ennis, Lima, Sheridan, West Yellowstone, White Sulphur Springs, Shields Valley, Lone Peak, Gardiner and Manhattan Christian.  Along with District 12, Districts 13 and 14 comprise the Western Division.  District 13 members are Darby, Drummond, Granite (Phillipsburg), Lincoln, Seeley-Swan, Valley Christian and Victor while District 14 is made up of Alberton, Charlo, Hot Springs, Noxon. St. Regis, Superior and Two Eagle River.  District 12 will send the top 4 qualifiers to the Western Divisional Tournament while Districts 13 and 14 will send 2 each.

With ten members being squeezed into an eight-team tournament format, District 12 is wrapping up their play-in games today (Wednesday) with official first-round contests starting at 9am tomorrow.  The Western Divisional will run next Thursday the 23rd through Saturday the 25th also at the Maroon Activities Center.
