What To Watch For In The Orediggers Vs. Comets Matchup

Heading into Saturday's Frontier Conference-East showdown with the Mayville State Comets there seem to be more questions than answers. With the expansion and realignment of the Frontier Conference into two divisions, most of the Orediggers' current conference foes in the Frontier East are relatively new to the Oredigger faithful. Mayville State hails from Mayville, North Dakota and here is a look at their 2025 season so far.

Mayville State - 5-3 overall, 3-2 in the Frontier-East

October 4 - Home win vs. #14 Dickinson State, 34-32
October 11 - Road loss at Valley City State (North Dakota), 0-21
October 18 - Home win vs. MSU-Northern, 21-17

Mayville State is somewhat of a mystery as most of their wins have come against subpar opponents, save their October 4th win against a ranked and very good Dickinson State team.

The Orediggers are in uncharted territory with their best start in program history and highest ranking ever in the national poll. Montana Tech is currently #4 in the NAIA Coaches' Poll and ranked #1 in the Football Performance Index. Here's what the Diggers have done so far in 2025.
