Orediggers’ Blake Thelen, Ryan Lowry earn Frontier Conference “Player of the Week” accolades
After Saturday's huge win against the #7 College of Idaho Yotes, the Montana Tech football team has a pair of players named as Frontier Conference Players of the Week. The following is from the Montana Tech Athletic Department:
HELENA, Mont.- The Frontier Conference announced the Erck Hotel/Frontier Conference Football Players of the Week, and two Orediggers have made the grade, Blake Thelen and Ryan Lowry.
Quarterback Blake Thelen is the Offensive Player of the Week and kicker Ryan Lowry was awarded the Special Teams Player of the Week. Thelen had a career high 361 passing yards on 17 of 27 passing. He threw two touchdown passes and was not intercepted. Thelen led the high powered Oredigger offense to a staggering 548 yards of offense. On the year, Blake has thrown for 1,117 yards on 62 completions. He is completing 62% of his passes and has thrown 10 touchdowns so far.
Kicker Ryan Lowry had a busy day Saturday. He was 5 for 5 on PAT’s, he was also 3 for 3 of field goal attempts, the longest being 36 yards. He also never gave the Yotes a chance at a momentum stealing return, as all 7 of his kickoffs went through the back of the endzone for touchbacks. Lowry, a returning first team all-conference kicker for the Diggs, has been fantastic this year. He is 6 of 7 on field goal attempts, 17 of 18 on PAT’s, and has 20 touchbacks in four games.
The Orediggers are on the road this coming Saturday to take on the Raiders of Southern Oregon University.
