Orediggers hit the road for conference games against Northern, Carroll
We knew going in that there are going to be no easy games this season in the Frontier Conference on either the men's or women's side of things and after last weekend's openers against Rocky Mountain College, the Montana Tech Orediggers know that every game is a potential war. The men won in overtime while the women ground out a one-point victory over the Battlin' Bears. This week, the Diggs hit the road with MSU-Northern on Thursday and Carroll College on Saturday.
The Tech women are 10-4 overall and are looking for a 2-game conference winning streak. MSU-Northern comes into the contest with an overall record of 6-8 and lost their conference opener last Saturday to the Montana Western Bulldogs, 60-48. The Northern Men again this year are led by former Oredigger Shawn Huse as head coach and are 8-6 overall. The Lights lost a one-point thriller to Montana Western last weekend in their conference opener.
The Carroll women are going to be a problem for the Orediggers as they come into the contest ranked #5 in the nation and are led by Frontier Conference Player of the Week Jamie Pickens. The Saints are 10-3 overall with their losses coming to #4 Indiana Wesleyan, at Arizona Christian and against #25 Indiana Tech. The Saints won their conference opener on the road last Saturday at the University of Providence, 63-59. The Carroll men are 7-7 overall and won their conference opener last weekend against the University of Providence in Great Falls. Common opponents this season include Dickinson State, who beat both Tech and Carroll, Eastern Oregon who got past Carroll but lost to Tech and Lakeland College who lost to both.
The women tip off at 5pm both evenings and the men play at 7pm.
