Butte Premiere Tonight – The Real Yellowstone Brings Rural Montana’s Truth to the Big Screen
The following is a press release from Tom Ospre:
Whitefish, MT – On Friday, August 8, there will be a one-night-only screening in Butte of The Real Yellowstone, the latest conservation documentary from award-winning Montana filmmaker Tom Opre at Montana Tech Library Theater, showtime is 7:00 PM.
The Real Yellowstone isn’t another romantic postcard of the West. It’s a raw, unfiltered look at the families who live on the land—Montana ranchers and farmers who work the soil, raise livestock, and f ight to hold on to a way of life that’s under increasing pressure from outside forces. This film gives voice to the people who are rarely heard in national conservation debates—those who have lived and stewarded the land for generations. From predator management and land access to misguided environmental policies and the future of rural youth, The Real Yellowstone delivers an honest portrayal of the modern challenges facing working families in Big Sky Country. It’s a film made for and about the people who still live by grit, grace, and grazing rights. And it asks a straightforward question: Can the next generation stay on the land?
“Montana is called the Last Best Place and is known around the globe for its western values and way of life. But whose values? Whose way of life? This is much more complicated than catchy bumper sticker phrases. Characteristic of a Tom Opre film, The Real Yellowstone dives deeply into the topical issues facing Montana, the West, wildlife, people, and the rural way of life. He nailed it.” -Gray N. Thornton, President & CEO of the Wild Sheep Foundation
