The Montana Folk Festival has arrived, and we can expect three days of incredible music from all over the globe, unique cuisine, one-of-a-kind crafts and thousands of people converging on the Mining City. With several stages spread across the eastern perimeter of Uptown Butte and several street closures going into effect, parking will again be a challenge this year.

You've got to hand it to our Butte-Silver Bow Fire Department. Not only are they ready, willing and able to race into burning buildings, risking life and limb at the sound of an alarm bell, as a regular part of their job. That goes without saying. So you have to particularly admiring the men and women of the department who have given up their day off on one of the hottest days of the summer to stand on Harrison Avenue collecting money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Well, if we wanted to wait until one of the hottest days of the summer for our first Cruise Nite of the summer on KMBR, we certainly accomplished our mission. Even with the mercury at 90 degrees as we began our broadcast, it certainly did not deter a large and enthusiastic crowd from gathering at Redline Sports on Harrison Avenue and many of them brought out some impressive classic cars, trucks and motorcycles for the first of several Cruise Nites we'll be hosting throughout the rest of the summer.

Southwest Montana Fishing Restrictions in Effect
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is advising anglers that portions of the Big Hole, Beaverhead, Clark Fork, Madison, Ruby and Sun rivers, as well as the Jefferson River and Silver Bow Creek in their entirety, will be closed to all fishing daily from 2 p.m. to midnight, effective at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10. The restrictions will stay in effect until conditions improve.

Montana Tech Basketball is gearing up for an unprecedented defense of their Frontier Conference regular season and tournament championships. They are the only back-to-back-to-back holders of both in conference history and the road to a 4th has at least become a little clearer as the Frontier Conference portion of next season's schedule has been released. 15 Frontier Conference games are on the schedule with the Orediggers meeting the University of Providence Argos, the University of Montana-Western Bulldogs, the Carroll College Fightin' Saints and the MSU-Northern Lights three times each. The Diggers will have the odd game at home against the Argos, the Lights and the Bulldogs.
