In addition to the St. Patrick’s Day parade on Friday, there are several other events from now until Saturday.

The big events Thursday include the Friendly Sons and Daughters banquet and gathering at the Front Street Station. This banquet is the longest-running St. Patrick’s Day tradition in Butte. This will be the 112th annual banquet honoring the Irish Culture and heritage of Butte. This year’s master of ceremonies is Mark Schulte, and the guest speaker is Mary Sheehy Moe. Also, Thursday will see St. Urho’s Day festivities at the Helsinki in uptown Butte. The traditional crowning of a descendant will take place at 6 pm Thursday evening. You can read more about the history of St. Urho’s Day HERE.

On St. Patrick’s Day, you can start your day with a special mass at St. Patrick’s church. The mass will start at 9 am. Father Beretta will lead the mass, there will be traditional Irish music, and it will include a Hibernian procession as well. St. Patrick’s church is located at 329 W. Mercury St.

The Butte St. Patrick's Day parade will start at Noon in uptown Butte. You can read about the route (with maps) and also the road closures in uptown Butte HERE.

After the parade, there will be a Hurling match at Alumni Coliseum at Montana Tech. The national sport of Ireland will be on display at 2 pm. The Butte Wolfe Tones will battle Missoula’s Thomas Meagher Hurling Club. You can get to the match free by catching a ride on the Butte trolley at the corner of Park and Montana (right by Park St. Liquor)

At 3:30 on St. Patrick’s Day, the annual Color Run will take place. This will be a fun, healthy alternative for the youth of Butte, families, and anyone in the community to enjoy. There will be food, music, and activities. You can find out more about the event HERE.

And the nightcap on Friday will be the Handing Down the Heritage festival at the Butte Civic Center. Doors will open at 6:30 pm at the Butte Civic Center. This is a multi-generational celebration, that includes live music and dance. Dublin Gulch and the Edmonton Police service Pipes and Drums will both perform, and the Tiernan Irish Dancers will perform. Admission is $15 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets are available at the Butte Civic Center.

Anaconda will also have a Friday morning church service at Holy Family Church (217 W. Pennsylvania Ave) Mass will start at 9 am.
