If you get a ring on your doorbell tonight and find a college kid or two asking for a food donation, don't be alarmed.  It's all on the up-and-up.  In fact, it's a new endeavor being presented by the Montana Tech Student Athlete Advisory Committee and it's for a very worthy cause.  Tonight from 5 to 6pm, Oredigger student-athletes will be going door-to-door around town "trick or treating" for nonperishable food donations.  All nonperishable food items will be accepted.

Granted, when you answer your door, you could possibly looking into the chest of one of Tech's offensive linemen or possibly one of their huge basketball players.  It might very well be be an Oredigger golfer or a volleyball player.  All of their teams have gone all-in on this miniature food drive and no matter the size or bulk of their athletes, these are all great kids with huge hearts.  We've seen Oredigger student-athletes walk our kids to school each year.  How about the unforgettable "kids' games" where elementary students are bussed to one of the Diggers' basketball games?  It's one of the most exciting games of the year and these screaming kids make Kelvin Sampson Court sound like TD Garden in Boston during Game 7 of the NBA Finals.  Montana Tech student-athletes believe in our community and they believe in helping wherever they can.

Give them a hand tonight.  Gather a few nonperishables that would help out a hungry family and be ready for the Diggers to show up between 5 and 6pm.  All food items will be given to those in need.  If you do not want your house to be on the list, please reach out to aclark3@mtech.edu or rlayton@mtech.edu to remove your name.
