Do you have a little LeBron in the making? Or, for you older parents, a Baby Bird? Bad puns aside, registration is open now for the winter YMCA youth basketball league and not only are they looking for players but for coaches and officials as well.

Friday, October 14 will be a great chance for some down-home fun and great music and dancing while raising money for one of Southwest Montana's most worth organizations. The Butte Elks Lodge at 206 W. Galena will be the site of "Country Hoedown" and an evening of fun and dancing as well as a chance to win some cool prizes and bid on some great items.

The Butte Family YMCA has a great way for your kid to be guaranteed a pumpkin (and even a little exercise) along with the annual pumpkin swim that is scheduled for Friday, October 27. During the Pumpkin Swim, your kid will swim and splash in the pool while finding the perfect pumpkin.

Whether you're looking to improve your health and get into better shape this season, both physically and mentally, or are in need of special certification for a potential job or personal reasons, the Butte YMCA can help. Plus, talk about convenience. They're located right in Butte at 2975 Washoe Street.

The Butte YMCA's media campaign slogan is spot on in getting their message across about their swim program; "It's more fun in the water when everyone knows how to swim!" True and to the point! The YMCA in Butte and across the nation has promoted the importance of swim lessons for some time, with very positive results. It all comes from the knowledge and technique newcomers receive from instructors who have the skills to teach people of all ages how to swim. The Butte YMCA's first swim session of the new year happens January 2nd through January 26th. Other Winter and Spring sessions run February through April, as well. Each session is four weeks long, with eight 45-minute lessons available.
