Knights of Columbus

It has truly been a historic season for Montana Tech Basketball. On the men's side of things, the Diggers are Frontier Conference regular season and tournament champions for the fourth year in a row and the women have been chosen as an at-large selection for the NAIA National Tournament which begins Thursday. Both teams will be headed to 4-team pods, the men to Santa Clarita, California where they will face first-round opponent Southern Oregon University, and the women to Madison, South Dakota where they will meet Dakota State. The winners of the pods will advance to the tournament's final site which is Kansas City, Missouri for the men and Sioux City, Iowa for the women.

Yessiree the "Big Game" is this Sunday and to say that the particular league who is in possession of the trademark of the contest in question is protective of their copyright, which they are not afraid to enforce, is a huge understatement. Since I am suggesting a few places to watch this game that I have not mentioned, this could in some ways be considered an endorsement or an advertisement. Which it isn't. But we're not taking any chances. You know what game is happening on Sunday. You know what sport they play, since I am unsure at this point if we can even say "football". Or "Sunday",for that matter. In any case, here are some suggestions on some great places in town that may or may not be showing the match in question.

Are you ready for some football? The Butte Knights of Columbus are ready. You could say that they are more than ready. And they are putting together a football trip to the midwest that will get the attention of any football fan. How does Touchdown Jesus and the oldest rivalry in the NFL sound?

This Friday, you can help get the season out to a good start and have a lot of fun in the process by attending the American Legion Baseball bingo fundraiser that's taking place at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 224 W. Park Street in Uptown Butte. Doors open at 6pm and a $30 Bingo Pack will get you 10 games of bingo with 3 cards per game along with 10 tickets for door prize drawings.

Corned Beef and Cabbage. It's just not St. Patrick's Day in Butte without a heaping helping of this hearty Irish delicacy. Traditionally served with carrots and boiled potatoes, there are several establishments that will be serving the dish this year and here are a few that we think stand out.

The Knights of Columbus Hall on Park Street in Butte will be the site of a Medical Benefit for Gyuanna Callaghan and her family on Saturday, February 17.

The annual tournament is a fundraiser for the Burgman/Boyle Scholarship fund, which provides a scholarship for Butte High and Butte Central graduates in honor of Casey Boyle and Kyle Burgman

Texas-based The Wilder Blue are making their way to Big Sky Country for a highly-anticipated show April 7 at Butte's Knights of Columbus Hall.

The Boyle family has been organizing Little Kids Basketball in Butte on winter Saturdays at the KC for 30 years. And it's future looks bright indeed.
