Fans of classic American rock are in for a treat later this month as The Covellite welcomes a high-energy tribute to one of music’s most beloved songwriters. On Friday, May 22, Montana-based band The Waiting will bring “A Celebration of the Music of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers” to the stage at The Covellite. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the show kicking off at 7 p.m.

But don’t expect wigs, costumes, gimmicks or imitation. The Waiting has built its reputation on something much more authentic: capturing the spirit and emotional heartbeat of Tom Petty’s music without turning it into parody. Since forming in 2013, the Bozeman group has traveled across Montana and the Northwest delivering performances that celebrate the timeless songwriting, gritty honesty, and rock-and-roll soul that made Petty an American icon.

The band’s setlists pull from every era of Petty’s catalog, including hits from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, solo material, and even selections from the Traveling Wilburys. Fans can expect familiar singalongs, deep cuts, soaring harmonies, and plenty of guitar-driven energy throughout the evening.

What makes The Waiting stand out is the chemistry between its members — a group of longtime musicians and friends who clearly love the music they’re playing. The lineup includes Chris Gillette on lead vocals and guitar, Todd Rosenberger on guitar and vocals, Jeremy Shanok on keyboards and vocals, Levi Main on lead guitar and vocals, Doc Wiley on bass, and Terry Longhway on drums.

Advance tickets are available for $10, with day-of-show admission priced at $15. For Petty fans and lovers of classic rock alike, the evening promises to be less of a tribute show and more of a celebration of songs that continue to resonate across generations.

Advance tickets are recommended and you can get yours here.
