High school basketball tournament time is here and as is usually the case, the Butte Civic Center will be a host site, this weekend for the Western C Boys and Girls Divisional Basketball Tournament which tips off Thursday morning at 9am and will run late into Saturday night.  At stake?  The Western C Division's two berths into the state tournament which will also be played at the Butte Civic Center.

Getting to the state tournament is a huge deal in Class C basketball.  For many schools, advancing only to the Divisional Tournament is a season's goal.  There are far more Class C schools than any other in Montana with the class divided into 11 individual "districts".  The Western Division is made up of Districts 12 and 13.  District 12 basketball this year is made up of Gardiner, Harrison, Lima (girls only), Manhattan Christian, Sheridan, Shields Valley, Twin Bridges, West Yellowstone and White Sulphur Springs.  District 13 consists of Alberton, Charlo, Drummond, Granite County (Philipsburg), Hot Springs, Lincoln, Noxon, Seeley-Swan, St. Regis, Two Eagle River, Valley Christian and Victor.  District tournaments and challenge games have been played and the pairings are set.  Here is the opening round schedule for Thursday.
