
Smelter City Brewing to host Chili Cook Off on March 1st
Do you have a secret chili recipe that get the crowd running? Okay, bad choice of words but if you can make a batch of chili that is award-worthy or even it you just enjoy a good bowl and a fun afternoon, there is something coming up in Anaconda that you should be aware of.
Anaconda's Smelter City Brewing at 101 Main Street is hosting their inaugural Chili Cook Off on Saturday, March 1st. Judging starts at 3pm and the public tasting starts at 4pm with a $5 charge for your chili tasting bowl. Categories this year will include first and second place awards for Anaconda's Best Chili, the People's Choice Award, Best Vegetarian Chili and Most Creative Chili.
HERE'S HOW TO ENTER
If you want to enter you must sign up in person at Smelter City Brewing by Saturday, February 28th. Each participant may enter one chili but should be prepared to bring 6 to 8 quarts of it to ensure there is enough for judging and public tasting. Participants must provide their own crockpots or warming device and a serving utensil. Please have your chili fully prepared for judging by 2:45pm as no on-site cooking will be allowed. Chili must be kept at safe serving temperatures and Smelter City Brewing reserves the right to remove any and all entries that do not meet basic food safety standards.
CATEGORIES AND JUDGING
All entries will be automatically entered into the Best Chili, Second Place and People's Choice categories and if your chili is vegetarian it is eligible for the Best Vegetarian Chili Award. Do you use unique ingredients or have a great presentation? Yours may be considered for the Most Creative Chili Award. Judges will determine Best Chili, Second Place, Best Vegetarian Chili and Most Creative Chili with the public choosing the People's Choice Award winner.
