Butte High boys/girls basketball host state play-in games Friday in Mining City
It is officially the postseason for the Butte High boys and girls basketball teams and both squads will be hosting play-in games this Friday evening at Ross J. Richardson Memorial Gym on the campus of Butte High School. Win and advance to the State Tournament next weekend at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse in Bozeman. Lose and your season is over. For the Bulldogs, it truly is that simple. Here's what's happening.
Helena Capital Girls at Butte High Girls - Friday, 6PM
The ladies will get the evening started in what is expected to be an incredibly loud environment. Butte High ended their season with a thrilling 36-35 win over these same Helena Capital Bruins on February 28th in Helena and also got past them 41-34 on February 1st in Butte. The Bulldogs will be playing without senior starter Addie Hiatt who tore an ACL in her final home game against Helena High on February 25th.
Missoula Sentinel Boys at Butte High Boys - Friday, 7:30PM
The Butte High boys have had their collective eye on this year's state tournament since last year's 4th place finish. Standing between them and a return trip are the Missoula Sentinel Spartans who have had a very good year against the Bulldogs. Early in conference play, on January 11th, the Spartans roughed up the Bulldogs 53-37 at Richardson Gym. Later in the season on February 4th, it was again Sentinel getting the best of the Bulldogs 60-49 in Missoula.
Needless to say, local interest in these games is huge. If you would like to get your tickets early, click here.
