Bulldog Boys Maul Helena Capital Bruins

Butte High senior Hudson Luedtke had another stellar performance leading three Bulldogs in double figures as the Bulldogs ran over Helena Capital 58-43 Thursday evening at Ross J. Richardson Memorial Gymnasium on the campus of Butte High School.

Butte High took control of the contest in the third quarter opening the stanza on a 9-0 run, jumping out to a 33-18 lead on a Josh Liston trey, after leading by 6 at the halftime intermission.  After a Drew Almquist bucket stopped the bleeding for the Bruins, the Bulldogs reeled off another 8 straight behind 2 Luedtke steals and a pair of Brady Hanson buckets.  The third quarter was an exhibition in defense as the interior of Cayde Stajcar and 6'9 Brady Hanson prevented shots from getting off while the quick hands of Luedtke, Liston and Mike Verlanic created multiple steals and easy baskets.  The Bulldog lead would extend to as many as 22 points in the third.

Capital would get no closer than 15 in the 4th quarter and the Bulldogs were able to fend off all comeback attempts.  Luedke led all scorers with 26 and was joined by Verlanic and Stajcar, each putting in 10.  Landon Levang was the Bruins leading scorer with 10.  The loss avenges a 47-43 loss the Bulldogs took to the Bruins on January 15th in Helena.  The Bulldogs have won their last 3 and are 12-3 overall, 7-3 in the Western AA.

The Bulldogs will head to Helena to take on the Helena High School Bengals on Saturday.  The Bulldogs beat the Bengals 75-65 on January 17th at Ross J. Richardson Memorial Gymnasium.
