“Cold Hands, Warm Hearts” event this Saturday and Sunday at Butte Wal Mart
The last few weeks of winter can sometimes be the busiest for the folks at the Butte Rescue Mission. Even though the bulk of the subzero temperatures are behind us, more can come at any time as can heavy snow, sleet and conditions that make surviving outside almost unmanageable. At the same time, many of the shelves at the Mission's pantry are down to their last items this time of year from a busy winter of feeding and sheltering our town's homeless population. That is why the Butte Interact Club is again having their "Cold Hands, Warm Hearts" event this Saturday and Sunday at the Butte Wal Mart.
What is the Butte Interact Club?
The Interact Club is a Rotary-based high school service organization that focuses on international issues and ones right here in Butte. It is in this spirit that they will be manning tables at the Butte Wal Mart this Saturday and Sunday at both the north and south entrances. They will be collecting food and supplies for the Butte Rescue Mission from 11am until 3pm both days. They ask you to stop down and purchase items for donation at their tables.
What items are needed?
Items that can be immediately used at the Rescue Mission include supplies such as toilet paper and paper towels, Comet and Windex. Items needed in the kitchen include coffee, sugar, creamer, salad dressing, peanut butter, bread and hot and cold cereal. Personal care items that they are looking for include full and travel size shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, shaving cream and body wash. Also, loofas, toothbrushes and toothpaste as well as brushes, combs, gloves and handwarmers are always greatly appreciated.
