Dublin Gulch performing Monday Night at The Covellite
If you've been any part of St. Patrick's Day celebrations in Butte over the last several decades you have probably enjoyed the incredible music of Dublin Gulch. Their sound is distinctly Irish yet this band is 100% Butte and their blend of traditional Irish folk songs, bluegrass, folk and even a hint of rock and roll is something that if removed from St. Patrick's Day would leave a huge void.
This year there will be no void as Dublin Gulch brings their incredible show to The Covellite at 215 W. Broadway in Historic Uptown Butte on St. Uhro's night, this Monday, at 7:30pm. Tickets are available here and if they're still available I would highly suggest picking yours up.
Dublin Gulch's powerful sound is due in large part to the commanding vocals of Tom Powers and the musicianship of Mick Cavanaugh, sometimes known as the "Tin Whistle Wonder of Walkerville" who also brings banjo, mandolin, guitar and vocal prowess to the band. Rounding out the groups core lineup are Jim Schulz on guitar, bouzouki, mandolin, banjo, bones, and both lead and harmony vocals and fiddler and banjoist John Joyner. New members who are bringing a fresh energy to an already amazing band are percussionist Conor Powers and bassist and violinist Luke Michelson.
Dublin Gulch has been featured on The Midnight Special (WFMT Chicago), Penn State’s The Folk Show, NPR’s Here & Now, and Thistle & Shamrock — and continues to celebrate the deep Irish roots of Butte through song and story.
Tickets and further information can also be obtained at The Covellite during regular business hours which are Tuesday through Sunday from 6pm to 10pm.
