Butte Literacy Program Plans Second Annual Adult Spelling Bee

Words, teamwork and friendly competition will be taking center stage on Saturday, October 10th, when the Butte Literacy Program hosts its second annual Adult Spelling Bee at the Butte Elks Lodge on Galena Street.  Billed as "Get Stung," the fundraiser will help support the Butte Literacy Program.  Doors open at 5pm and the spelling bee starts at 6pm.

The event will feature teams competing to correctly spell words and advance through the rounds.  When a team misses a word, it gets "swatted" from the competition, but there is still a chance to get back in.  Teams can buy themselves back into the bee or friends and supporters can bring them back for $25.

Registration for a three-member team is $150, or $50 per team member.  For those who would rather watch and cheer on friends and family, admission is $25 and will include a walking taco to enjoy.

The evening will also include a 50/50 raffle with tickets being priced at a buck each or sic for $5.  Silent auction items will also be on display for bidding, adding another opportunity to support the Butte Literacy Program.

The fundraiser is designed to be entertaining and beneficial, giving Butte residents a chance to gather together and to help support the literacy program here in the Mining City.

For more information or to get involved, please contact the Butte Literacy Program at butteliteracy@gmail.com or call (406) 723-7905.  Whether you're ready to spell or simply want to cheer from the sidelines, organizers are inviting the community to "get stung" for a good cause on Saturday, October 10th.
