A new monthly tradition is taking shape in Uptown Butte as the Covellite launches its “Covellite Family Dinner,” a laid-back community gathering centered around food, conversation, new friends and connection.

Beginning Sunday, May 17, the event will take place on the third Sunday of every month, inviting locals to pull up a chair, share a meal, and spend an evening together in one of Butte’s most beloved gathering spaces. Future dinners are already scheduled for June 21, July 19, and August 23.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with dinner served at 7 p.m. But organizers say the evening is meant to be much more than a potluck. The idea is simple: create a welcoming space where people can meet new friends, reconnect with neighbors, and enjoy a slower pace for a few hours.

Unlike many organized community events, there’s no formal program, no admission fee, and no pressure. The only cost of entry is bringing a dish to share. Whether it’s homemade macaroni salad, a bakery dessert, chips and dip, or a favorite family recipe, every contribution is welcome.

The Covellite says the dinners are designed to feel casual and inclusive, encouraging people from all walks of life to gather around the same table. Guests are encouraged to come hungry and bring a friend along for the evening.

One request from organizers: no outside drinks.

Community meals have long been a way to bring people together, and the Covellite’s newest series aims to continue that tradition in a warm, approachable setting. In a time when schedules feel increasingly busy and disconnected, the monthly dinners offer something refreshingly simple — food, conversation, and a chance to spend time with others face-to-face.

For Butte and area residents looking for a low-key night out, the Covellite Family Dinner may quickly become a new favorite tradition.
