Saturday, June 3, the community is invited to rally around a young Butte father with a mysterious illness that is not only confusing doctors but wreaking financial havoc on a young family by attending a benefit at Star Lanes Event Center that will be a lot of fun and also hopefully provide some much-needed monetary help for Cory Johnson and his family.

First of all, Cory Johnson is a worker.  A Butte miner.  His work ethic need not be explained and that makes his present situation even that much more difficult.  According to organizer Deb Dinius, nearly two years ago, an infection that baffled local doctors sent Cory to treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona and later several visits to the clinic in Minnesota to receive treatment, although an official diagnosis has still not been made.  What has been made, though, is a notice that the clinics will not accept his Montana Medicaid plan which leaves the family in a financial and emotional crisis.  Particularly when much more doctors and treatments are in Cory's future.  You can help Cory and his young family of 4 simply by showing up on June 3, playing a few game and making a bid or two on some wonderful items donated by Southwest Montana businesses.

The benefit will have a lot to offer as far as fun and entertainment go.  There will be both a live and silent auction, not one but two dunk tanks, live music, gun raffles, a dart tournament being put on by Matt Powers, food from Mike Thatcher and CCCS and a "little plinko game for the kids," according to Dinius.  Also on hand will be several food vendors.  If you can't make the benefit or would just like to give a few dollars to the family directly, an account has been established at Mile High Credit Union, account #20885, tax id 92-3284796.  Donations are still being accepted for the live and silent auctions as well.  For further information, please get ahold of Deb Dinius at (406)491-0752, Steve Johnson at (406)490-6558 or Wanda Stewart at (406)498-3058.
