Hitchin’ Post in Melrose to be featured on America’s Best Restaurants
The drive to Melrose, Montana, particularly in early fall, is well worth the 30 minutes it take, especially if you take the frontage road to appreciate the majesty of Southwest Montana. The colors seem to jump out and with the southern mountains as the backdrop it feels as if you're living in a scene from an old western movie. Melrose itself is a fantastic spot for fishing, floating and everything that is fun about Southwest Montana. But if your destination is the Hitchin' Post, you are going to find food that is every bit the equal of the natural beauty and recreational opportunity that abound. You're also going to find some awfully nice people.
"Hands down best experience we’ve had ever! The owners Ken and Bonnie were more than hospitable! We were treated just like family! "

The Hitchin' Post Restaurant and Saloon is not just a great place to unwind after a day on the river but it is a purveyor of steaks and prime rib that will take your breath away but also of generously sized and equally delicious sandwiches. Their breakfast offerings, particularly anything that includes their made-from-scratch pancakes, are quickly becoming legendary. What about pizza? Theirs can compete with any pie from New York to Chicago. The Hitchin' Post is also about to become well-known on a national scale as they were recently the production site and focal point of a crew from America's Best Restaurants.
Ken and Bonnie Haines took over the Hitchin' Post a few years ago and they pride themselves on "cookin' so good you'll think we stole your mama," but they also serve a mean beverage at their full-service bar and offer frequent live music and entertainment. Coming up on September 20th is their "Human Foosball Tournament" which is a blast in itself but also offers three different live bands on the patio throughout the day.
Don't wait until then. Stop by the Hitchin' Post and see what all the fuss is about.
