Here is where you can show your respect on Veterans Day in Butte
First of all, a very heartfelt thank you to any and all veterans who may be reading this. Your service and sacrifice have allowed the freedoms that simply allow me to write and publish this sentence and so many more. Thank you not only on Veterans Day but every day.
Our veterans have seen things that no man, woman or child should ever see. They have endured unimaginable horror, time and time again. How do you properly thank someone who has laid everything on the line and has seen many of their friends disappear? Is a simple "thank you for your service" nearly enough or has it lost its meaning? "Happy Veterans Day"? Please.
A great way to honor those who have served is to take time out of your day today and attend the Veterans Day services that will be taking part at the Butte Civic Center. Services will begin at 10am and a light brunch will follow.
If you can't make the services you can always stop by the Southwest Montana Veterans Center to thank a veteran in person.
If you are interested in competing in Montana's Oldest Road Race, Butte's Veterans Day Run which started back in 1934, you can choose from a 2.5 mile course or a 5 mile course but you have to hurry as online registration closes at 8am. In person registration will be from 10am until 10:45am at the American Legion Hall at 3201 Wynne Avenue which will also serve as the start/finish line. The registration fee is $20 and all proceeds will benefit the American Legion Silver Bow Post #1. Start time is 11:11am sharp.
