
“Finding Lucinda” October 18th at Butte’s Covellite Theater
Lucinda Williams is one of the most respected and influential singer-songwriters in American music. Known for her raw, emotionally charged lyrics and distinctive blend of rock, country, blues, and folk, she is often credited with helping shape the alt-country and Americana genres. Her early life and legacy will be explored in film and live music on October 18th at the Covellite Theater at 215 W. Broadway in Butte through "Finding Lucinda", a captivating new documentary that will follow a songwriters in the round session with some of our areas most talented singer-songwriters.
Lucinda Williams first gained widespread attention with her 1988 self-titled album, but her real breakthrough came in 1988 with Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, a critically acclaimed record that earned her a Grammy Award and further cemented her reputation as a master storyteller.
Williams’ music is marked by a deep honesty—she writes about love, loss, and struggle in ways that feel both personal and universal. Giants such as Jason Isbell and Brandi Carlisle cite her as major influences on their respective careers. Her impact has also been felt by talented Montana songwriters such as Chad Okrusch, Martha Scanlan, Christy Hays, Ben Pickett and Ismay who will start the evening out with what is expected to be an incredible songwriters in the round session. The documentary will follow, featuring rare footage, candid interviews and, of course, the unforgettable music that shaped American music.
