Do you have a youngster with a love of art and an itch for aviation?  The Montana Department of Transportation's Aeronautics Division is sponsoring an Aviation Awareness Art Contest that is open to all students in grades K through12 in any Montana public, private or home school.  The contest is designed to broaden knowledge of aviation and aerospace and to promote careers in these industries and the contest is open through April 14th.

There are three categories this year.  Category 1 is for kindergarteners through 5th graders, Category 2 for 6th through 8th graders and Category 3 for 9th through 12th graders.  Artwork should be no larger than 11 x 14 inches and can be submitted in any medium, color or black-and-white.  The artwork must be original and have an aviation theme.  The back of the poster must include the student's name and school name as well as the student's mailing address, email address and phone number as well as the student's art teacher's name, email address and phone number, and whether or not the student would like the artwork returned to them.

First place in each category will receive a roundtrip flight to Helena for the winner and 2 guests (weight restrictions may apply due to aircraft limitations) on May 23, 2024, to attend the awards ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda where they will be presented with a trophy, a certificate and their framed artwork all presented by a state official.  After the ceremony, the winner and their guests will be treated to lunch.  Second and Third Places in each category will receive a Certificate of Achievement and a trophy.  Prior years' winners are welcome to enter again this year but are ineligible for first place consideration.

If you would like to enter, please mail your artwork and cover sheet to: MDT Aeronautics Division Art Contest, P.O. Box 200507, Helena, MT, 59620-0507.
