Saturday prep: Bulldogs vs. Flathead
Let’s get you fully prepared for the weekend of basketball staring us in the face. I ran through the Butte High-Glacier game HERE. You can dig through that and be ready for the Wolfpack.
It’s the ‘Kalispell weekend’ the girls are on the road for 2, and the boys are home for a pair. So that means Saturday’s opponent will be the Braves, and Bravettes, of Flathead.
On the ladies’ side, entering Friday the Bravettes are 3-1 overall. (They host Missoula Sentinel Friday night) In their 4 non-conference matchups, they have wins over CMR, Great Falls High, and Bozeman. Their lone loss coming to Gallatin. Junior Kennedy Moore has started on fire for the Bravettes, averaging 17 points and 6 rebounds a game. She has led Flathead is scoring in all four of their preseason games. Akilah Kubi has also had a solid start, getting 9 points and 10 rebounds a game.
Through three games the Bulldogs are led by Laura Rosenleaf and Emmarie Richards, averaging 12 points and 10 points respectively. Rosenleaf also averages 11 rebounds a game for Butte High.
The girls’ varsity game is scheduled for 4 pm Saturday at Flathead.
The Butte High boys will make the quick turnaround from Friday night to Saturday afternoon as well, they just get the luxury of sleeping at home. The boys host Glacier Friday, and again you can read that preview HERE.
Flathead boys are on the bus to Missoula Sentinel Friday night, then will continue South to Butte for a Saturday, 4 pm matchup with the Bulldogs. Entering Friday the Braves are 0-4 on the season, with home losses to CMR and Great Falls, and losses in Bozeman to the Hawks and Gallatin. Flathead is a young team, with only one senior on the roster. They are led in scoring by 6’6” junior Noah Cummings at 18 points a game, with a game-high 28 against CMR. Lyric Ersland is also in double digits at 10 points a game for the Braves.
The Bulldogs are led in scoring by freshman Hudson Luedtke, Hudson is averaging 13 points and 6 rebounds a game thus far. Senior Jace Stenson is netting 9 points a game, and senior post Jonas Sherman is getting 8 points and 9 rebounds a game.
This is an important stretch for the boys, as they play 5 of their first 7 games at home. Scheduled start time against Flathead is 4 pm at Ross Richardson. See you in the gym.
