
Light sports week ahead as high school hoops regular season wraps up
With wrestling, swimming and speech & debate having crowned winners and champions, the high school sports schedule has only basketball on this week's radar and both Butte High and Butte Central's boys and girls teams play only a single game this week, all facing league foes on the road, save for the BC girls.
FRIDAY - BUTTE HIGH BOYS AND GIRLS AT MISSOULA BIG SKY
It is another boys/girls varsity doubleheader with the boys taking center stage at 5:30 at Big Sky High School followed by the girls at 7pm. The Butte High boys have won their last 3 and are looking to sweep the Eagles after winning 51-44 in Butte on January 24th. The Bulldog boys are 11-5 overall and 7-4 in Western AA play. The girls sport an itdentical record of 11-5 overall, 7-4 in conference play.
Subvarsity action on multiple courts will have the boys JV game at 4pm, the boys frosh at 5:30pm and the boys sophomores playing at 7pm. The lone girls sub varsity contest is a 4pm frosh contest.
SATURDAY - BC BOYS AT CORVALLIS; CORVALLIS AT BC GIRLS
The Butte Central girls will host the Corvallis Blue Devils while the boys will be playing at Corvallis. Both squads will follow the same schedule with the frosh playing at 1pm, the JVs at 2:30pm and the varsities at 4pm. The BC boys walloped Corvallis 70-37 on February 1st at the Maroon Activities Center while the girls lost a close one on the road, 45-41. The Butte Central boys have won 4 of their last 5, improving their mark to 8-8 overall with a 5-4 record in the Southwest A while the girls are 5-11 overall with a 3-6 mark in conference games.
