Brodie Kelly has just wrapped up his 20th regular season as Head Coach of the Butte Central boys basketball team and will be the guest of honor at a celebration commemorating his achievement this Friday at 6:30pm at Butte's Knights of Columbus Hall.
Markovich Foundation and Summit Beverage make big Folk Fest grant
The Markovich Family Foundation in conjunction with Summit Beverage has awarded a total of $100,000 over five years to support the Montana Folk Festival in 2024 and in the years to follow. This year, $20,000 will be granted to the Montana Folk Festival by the Foundation. This support will be doubled by the ongoing challenge grant of the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation.

The girls side of the Western A Divisional Basketball Tournament tipping off Thursday at the Butte Civic Center looks like it's going to be a dandy. Frenchtown and Bigfork each come into play with one loss apiece. Bigfork's lone blemish came to Frenchtown by three points in their season opener and they haven't lost a game since. Here's a look at the Boys Western A first round
The Western A boys and girls combined basketball tournament gets underway Thursday morning at the Butte Civic Center and things are going to get a bit testy. For most of the season, Frenchtown, Hamilton, Dillon and Butte Central have been ranked in the state's top 5 and all believe they have what it takes to win the state championship. The issue is, they are all not only in the same division, but they are in the same Southwestern A conference. Most of their combined losses have come to, well, each other. And all four teams will have to fight through the Northwestern A to get back to Butte for State. Never an easy task. It's tournament time. Things are about to get crazy.
