Here are the best Butte neighborhoods for trick-or-treaters
Growing up in the 70s and 80s here in Butte, Halloween Night was truly a night of magic. I grew up on the 600 block of Diamond Street, right across from the hospital, in a house that no longer exists. That aside, my childhood home's prime location gave me and my friends plenty of access to much of Uptown Butte to trick-or-treat for what seemed to be for an eternity. We swapped the orange pumpkin buckets our moms gave us for large pillowcases that some would fill to the brim over the course of the evening and proudly display at school the next day. Times were simpler. The streets were safer then but today's generation does not have to miss out as there are plenty of great, safe neighborhoods in and around Butte where you can trick-or-treat just like the old days. Here are a few of our favorites.
ROCKER
Just over the hill, Rocker is pulling away as the Halloween leader in Southwest Montana as far as hospitality and generosity go. Rocker is very tight-knit and neighborly with one listener proudly calling in saying he and his Rocker neighbors had over 1500 kids trick-or-treating there last year.

THE DRIVES
Just west of Farragut Avenue near St. Ann's Catholic Church lie The Drives which are a great trick-or-treating spot. The neighborhood is safe and friendly and has a beautiful park that is perfect as a staging area for kids and a great place for parents to take it all in.
BIG BUTTE NEIGHBORHOOD
Anyone who doubts that the Big Butte area loves their holidays is welcome to visit on the 3rd of July to witness the insanity that goes on every year. Halloween may not be as intense, but trick-or-treaters are welcomed every year with open arms by the residents and families of this iconic Butte neighborhood.
LOWER WESTSIDE
Generally free of heavy traffic and one of Butte's safer areas, the lower Westside is an area abundant in young families who are extremely welcoming to trick-or-treaters.
