Proposed resurfacing project on multiple routes in Anaconda
The following is a release from the Montana Department of Transportation:
ANACONDA, Mont. — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is announcing and inviting the public to comment on a proposal that will resurface about 2.5 miles of 4th Street/Van Buren Street and 7th Street, in Anaconda.
The project section on 4th Street/Van Buren Street begins at the east side of the intersection with Sycamore Street and proceeds east for approximately 2 miles, ending at East Park Avenue. Proposed work includes a seal and cover (chip seal), updated Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) curb ramps at the intersections with Oak Street and Cherry Street, along with new pavement markings.

The 7th Street section begins at the west side of the intersection with Elm Street and extends east for half a mile ending at Cedar Street. Proposed work includes milling the existing surface, applying a new overlay, and finishing with a seal and cover (chip seal), updated ADA curb ramps at the intersections with Cherry Street, Oak Street, Hickory Street, Locust Street, and Maple Street, along with new pavement markings.
The purpose of this project is to extend the service life of the roadway, enhance safety, and improve accessibility. Construction is tentatively planned for 2026 depending on completion of design and availability of funds. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
Partnering with the community is an important part of properly planning for future projects. MDT welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at mdt.mt.gov/contact/comment-form.aspx or in writing to Montana Department of Transportation, Butte office, PO Box 3068, Butte, MT 59702-3068. Please note that comments are for project UPN 10590000.
