Bert Mooney adds United Express flight to Denver
Options for air travelers out of Butte's Bert Mooney Airport have recently been relatively slim as was noted at a recent community meeting regarding ways to improve overall service. Butte has recently had only service from one major airline with service to only one major regional air hub, the Delta Connection flights from Bert Mooney to Salt Lake City International Airport. Limited connectivity along with higher fares have led many travelers from Butte and surrounding Southwest Montana communities to seek service from airports in Bozeman, Helena and Missoula, much to the frustration of Bert Mooney officials and supporters. Yesterday, the Bert Mooney Airport announced a big move towards flexibility by adding an additional airline to a different hub.
Beginning January 7, 2025, United Express will offer daily, nonstop flights between Bert Mooney Airport and Denver International Airport. This new flight will give Southwest Montana travelers service to one of America's largest hubs and access to United Airlines' extensive global travel network. What does this mean for those wanting to fly out of Butte? More connectivity and more options. Shorter wait times and more competition between airlines which could lead to lower fares. It will give passengers more reasons to travel out of Butte and appreciate what our new air terminal has to offer.
Bert Mooney's new terminal was opened with high expectations in 2018 featuring many upgrades and new amenities as well as short wait times and free parking. This new flight is expected to boost local air travel and service out of Butte which can only be a good thing for a beautiful but underutilized airport.
