Stephanie Sorini, President of the Butte Chamber of Commerce, along with other Chamber members and representatives of Bert Mooney and United Airlines will cut the ribbon at 9:15am followed by United's maiden departure at 10am.  United will offer daily flights to Denver International Airport as a final destination or as a hub to thousands of destinations worldwide.

United's return to Butte brings more options to Southwest Montana air travelers who have frequently chosen other nearby airports, citing lower fares and better options.  Bert Mooney's other major tenant, Delta Airlines, offers daily service to Salt Lake City International Airport.  Butte travelers are excited about the new flight and the possibilities that come with it.

United's arrival in Butte means more competition which in turn could lead to lower fares.  Lower fares will naturally generate more business.  At least that is what local leaders are hoping.  Sorini noted that unlike other Southwest Montana airports, there is no fee for parking at Butte's Bert Mooney Airport which can save hundreds of dollars.  She also mentioned that there is the added expense of gasoline, meals and possibly lodging to consider and, especially this time of year, the danger of winter highway travel.

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.  Bert Mooney Airport is just off of south Harrison Avenue at 101 Airport Rd.
