Butte food you’ll need to watch the Cat/Griz game Mining City Style
The last week of the Big Sky Conference season is always highlighted by the Cat/Griz game which is a party no matter which school plays host. Last year things were crazy in and around Washington-Grizzly Stadium and downtown Missoula after the Griz pulled out the win and this year is going to be insane in Bozeman as ESPN's College GameDay will be there as the Cats look for atonement. Here in Butte we are practically right between Bozeman and Missoula, just a short drive away from the game. Butte does not like to be left out of a party and if you're part of a Mining City viewing party, here are some things that will make the game that much better.
1. Pork Chop Sandwiches
Are we seriously going to debate which one is better? Again? Let's put arguments aside and look at the bigger picture. The Freeway's "Wop Chop" is huge and comes with your choice of fries or Jo Jo Potatoes. They're all delicious and Jo Jos are meant to be shared. John's "Original Pork Chop Sandwich", however, is served ala carte, but at John's on Harrison, hot wings are on the menu. And there is nothing like John's hot wings with their white sauce. You'll do fine with either. Just order ahead of time.
2. Burgers and Chili Dogs
You're going to need burgers and chili dogs if you're watching the Cat/Griz game and the Bonanza Freeze has some of the best, if not the best burgers and dogs in town. Plus, they offer desserts and they deliver.
3. Pizza
If you're watching football, you're going to need a couple of pizzas. Looking for deep dish? I promise, you'll love a deep pan Silver Bow Special from Silver Bow Pizza. If you want one of the best taco pizzas in the world, the Vu Villa can help you out there. Plus, their Digger Special is simply fantastic, even if the other schools are the ones involved.
