We are officially down to crunch time in the Western AA.

Butte High school has 3 games left in the regular season. The Dogs have one game this week, (Friday) against the Spartans of Missoula Sentinel. Next week they will close with the Helena Schools, Helena High on Tuesday, and Capital on Saturday.

Hellgate 9-2
Flathead 9-2
Capital 7-4
Helena 7-4
Sentinel 5-6
Big Sky 5-6
Butte High 1-10
Glacier 1-10

The Butte High girls know they will enter the divisional tournament as either the 7 or 8 seed. The other bit of information they are in possession of, is they know they are playing much better ball down the stretch. From the Butte Central win on, the offense for Butte High has really taken big strides, averaging over 50 points a game, during that stretch. Laura Rosenleaf is coming off a monster against Hellgate, where she put down 20 points, and snagged 9 rebounds. (She is #2 in rebounds a game in the Western AA, and #5 in the AA overall). Rosenleaf averages 9 points a game overall.

Senior Emmarie Richards continues to be a constant for the Dogs, averaging 8 points a game. 8th grader Cadence Graham continues to get more time and more points (Averaging 6 a game) and Dylann Bartoletti is at 3 a game on paper but put up 11 against Missoula Big Sky. Friday and Tuesday’s games are at home for the Dogs, so get up to Ross Richardson and show these ladies some love.

The boys will have 2 of their final 3 games on the road, their final home game (before state) is Capital next Saturday. The Butte High Boys are smack-dab in the middle of the pile, with an incredible amount of wiggle room remaining.

Hellgate 9-2
Helena High 7-4
Capital 7-4
Butte 6-5
Big Sky 6-5
Glacier 6-5
Sentinel 2-9
Flathead 1-10

The first time the Dogs went through the conference, they beat Sentinel 67-56 at home, lost to Capital (by 1) in Helena, and took down Helena High 58-49 at Ross Richardson. This is an incredibly important stretch for Butte High, as a #2 seed in the Divisional is not out of the equation.

Butte High Freshman Hudson Luedtke continues to lead the Dogs in scoring at 14 points a game. Jace Stenson is also in double digits at 12 points a game, and Cameron Gurnsey breaks in at 9 points a game. Butte High’s depth will continue to pay dividends for them. With guys like Casey Merrifield, Tocher Lee, Jonas Sherman, Bo Demarais, and others, this team has great tools to make a run into the postseason.
