Any time a new restaurant opens in Butte it's an exciting thing.  I'm old enough to remember the excitement around town when McDonald's went up on Harrison Avenue.  It was 1985 and I wasn't even old enough to drive.  So, me and my friends hopped on the city bus and rode down to find an incredible new building, in the familiar McDonald's design, but right there on Harrison where a gas station had sat only a few months back.  And the building was absolutely packed.  But after a short wait in line, we were finally able to sit down and enjoy a Big Mac, something we would have had to travel to Helena or Missoula to enjoy.  But it wasn't limited to the McDonald's opening.  Even today we saw practically everybody in town at Hwy 55 the first few days after it opened.  Let's face it, Butte loves a new restaurant.

Speaking of McDonald's, it was way back in high school when I met my friend Brian Hendrickson when we were both working there.  So, it came as a very pleasant surprise to see on Facebook that Brian has something really cool in the works.

Yes, it looks like my old friend is part of an exciting new restaurant coming soon to Butte, Gyros Wagon.  While new to Butte, Gyros Wagon has a location in Dillon on Atlantic, serving beef and lamb or chicken gyros both traditional style and in a number of different, tasty fashions.  Gyros Wagon will be on Amherst in the old Quizno's location next to Papa Murphy's Pizza.

WHEN WILL THEY OPEN?

It's looking like they are waiting on a plumbing inspection and for a few small kinks to be worked out before they announce an official opening date, but we will keep watching and let you know when we find more news.
