Celebration of the Hulkster’s life set for May 5 at Stodden Park
Some people have an impact on you from the first moment you meet them. Hulk Schow was one of those people even though he was only a little boy. Hulk had an enthusiasm for life that you could feel simply from his little smile, although his enthusiasm and his young life were taken from us way too soon. Hulk Schow, smile and all, battled cancer for most of his young life and he fought it like Mike Tyson. But you would never know of the treatments he was enduring or the pain he was fighting because, well, he was still full of the curiosity and enthusiasm that we all hopefully experienced at that age. Everything was new. Especially when he was around a fire truck or police equipment. It was his enthusiasm that made him an honorary member of both departments. Hulk loved people. And people loved the Hulkster.
On May 5, what would have been Hulk's 8th birthday, the community is invited to attend a celebration of Hulk's life at Stodden Park starting at 5pm. This event will be potluck-style, so bring a dish or dessert. Hulk's parents are also planning on firing up the grill, so bring burgers and dogs if you would like to. There will also be plenty of room for games so don't forget the cornhole boards and horseshoes. Bring any outdoor games you have and your lawn chairs as well. Commemorative stickers will also be available. Let's get together as a community to honor and remember one of our youngest, most valiant cancer fighters and the memories of our little hero, Hulk Schow.
