Whether you're a reveler or a runner, there's going to be something for you to do over St. Patrick's Day weekend here in Butte, America. Not that there's ever a lack of activity in or around March 17, here is a look at some of the things you need to know about heading into the big holiday.
Parents of young children hoping to enjoy the last few days of summer in the play area of Stodden Park are in for a rude awakening as the area is fenced off with danger signs on the outside and heavy equipment inside the fence line.
A Southwest Montana tradition returns to the Mining City's Stodden Park this Labor Day as the Southwest Montana Central Labor Council again brings their free community picnic to park's area near the carousel. The free community picnic will be taking place from noon unitl 4pm this year and is a great opportunity to mingle with fellow community members and hear from many local and statewide office holders and candidates in addition to enjoying a free barbecue compliments of the Southwest Montana Central Labor Council.
What could be better than watching a stream of rubber ducks float down a lazy river on a cool, Southwest Montana late summer's evening? Being able to win money on it, of course. And better yet, helping out the Butte Parks and Trails Foundation through the work of our local Rotary Club.
The warm weather is a welcome sight, particularly to those in charge of scheduling Butte High and Butte Central activities. After delays, postponements and cancellations we are keeping our fingers crossed for the warm stretch to continue as the Bulldogs and Maroons look to get things rolling.
On May 5, what would have been Hulk's 8th birthday, the community is invited to attend a celebration of Hulk's life at Stodden Park starting at 5pm. This event will be potluck-style, so bring a dish or dessert. Hulk's parents are also planning on firing up the grill, so bring burgers and dogs if you would like to. There will also be plenty of room for games so don't forget the cornhole boards and horseshoes.
