Youth Open Mic Nite kicks off a fun week of events at Butte’s Covellite Theater
The Covellite Theater at 215 W. Broadway in Uptown Butte is quickly becoming a regular meeting place for those looking for shows, movies and more. This week will bring another enjoyable series of events for you to check out starting with "Youth Open Mic Nite" tonight
TUESDAY - YOUTH OPEN MIC NITE
The Covellite is putting out a call to all young poets, musicians, comedians, mimes, groups and entertainers to come up for your chance to shine on stage. Adult performers are also welcome, but "humans with a curfew" will be given early spots for "Youth Open Mic Nite" tonight and the last Tuesday each month through the summer. Open Mic Nite will run from 6 to 9pm and conclude with a jam session. Youth Open Mic Nite is hosted by the young and immensely talented Peyton Waters and sponsored by Butte Cares.
WEDNESDAY - FREE MOVIE NIGHT
Every Wednesday in May, the Covellite Theatre will screen free movies on the big screen upstairs and also on the projector downstairs where you will be closer to the drinks which are available for purchase. Enjoy free popcorn while you watch "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day" in association with the Butte Public Library. Suggested donation is $5.
FRIDAY - JERRY JOSEPH AND THE JACKMORMONS
Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons have been regulars in Butte's live music scene for four decades and Friday at the Covellite they will be performing in conjunction with the release of the 20th anniversary deluxe edition of their album "Mouthful of Copper", the first time the album will be available on vinyl. Advance tickets are $20.
SATURDAY - TEN24 PLAY FESTIVAL
The TEN24 play festival is the definition of grace under pressure. At 6pm, ten short plays will be performed. Plays that were ideas that were drawn from a hat, written, produced and rehearsed only 24 hours prior. Tickets are available here.
