Cruise Nites doing it again this Summer.
There's just something about classic cars and Summertime in Southwest Montana and as August kicks into high-gear, so do KMBR's Cruise Nites. Every alternating Wednesday throughout the summer, classic car, truck and motorcycle enthusiasts have met at varying locations to show off their goods, talk tools-of-the-trade and compete for the "People's Choice Award" which is given each time out to the cars or trucks and motorcycles have garnered the most votes from the public.
At a recent Cruise Nite at Butte's Redline Sports, Mike Pollard talked about the ride he had competing. "It's a 95 Toyota Tacoma, we've completely changed everthing," he said. "It's got old-school hydraulics, front and back, side to side. Gecko green paint. I just went old-school." A few spaces down, Gina and Gilbert Hererra displayed their 1975 MGB Roadster that came with a great story. Gina explained, "I was 19 and I saw this1963 orange Alpha Romeo Spider, but I was 19 and I went for a practical car. So this whole time, all my life, I've told my kids, the things that you regret in life are not the things you did, but the things you didn't do and for me it was not buying the little orange convertible. So, finally, in 2020, we had the opportunity to buy the little orange convertible." Taking full advantage of the car before them, the Herreras, now parents, had to consult with their children and their possible hurt feelings to the purchase. Would they be mad if they bought the car? " They said they'd be mad if I didn't," Gina added with a smile.
The next Cruise Nite will be at Copper Canyon Harley Davidson Wednesday, August 10 starting at 6pm.
