Dougie Peoples had 23 points and Eric Loos added 16 as the Butte Central Maroons beat the Dillon Beavers 53-38 Thursday night at the Maroon Activities Center.

After playing to a 14-all first quarter tie, the Maroons turned up the pressure defensively, holding the Beavers to 4 points in the second quarter and only five in the third.  Offensively, the Maroons blasted out of the gate to start the second-half, going on an 11-0 run and extending to a 32-18 lead from which the Beavers would not recover.  The game would be finished by reserves on both teams.

The Maroons would get six points each from senior Kyle Holter and sophomore Owen McPartland while junior guard Jack Keeley and junior forward Zane Moodry would each contribute 2.  The Beavers were led in scoring by sophomore Carter Curnow who netted 13 with 9 coming in the Beavers 14-point first quarter.  Senior forward Caden Hansen would follow with 6 and sophomore post Kyler Engellant would get 5.

The loss drops the Beavers to 7-4 on the season and 4-3 in the Southwestern A division.  The Maroons improve to 9-1 overall and a perfect 6-0 in league play.  The Maroons will be on the road this Saturday to take on the 9-1 Hamilton Broncs.  Hamilton's lone loss on the season was a 16-point road loss to Frenchtown on January 6.  Butte Central defeated Frenchtown at the Maroon Activities Center 55-42 the next day.
